2002 Social Services Institute

Presentation Proposal Guidelines

Tentative Schedule || Contact Us

The NC Association of County Directors of Social Services invites you to submit proposals for presentations for the 81st Annual Social Services Institute. This year's Institute will be held November 13-15, 2002 at the Adams Mark Hotel in Charlotte, NC.

The Institute gives presenters a unique opportunity to address Directors and employees from Depratments of Social Services throughout North Carolina. We anticipate the Insitute will be attended by 600+ people.

The committee is looking for proposals for 3 types of presentations: Pre-conference Institute workshops (3-hours on 11/13), conference workshops (1.5, 2, or 2.5 hour), and cracker barrel sessions (30 min.).

Pre-Conference Workshops:

These 3-hour workshops will be offered 9:00am-12:00pm on Wednesday, November 13th before the opening plenary.

Conference Workshops:

We are seeking a diverse group of workshops and speakers for this year's Institute, particularly issues involving:

* Adult Services

* Aging Issues

* Children's Services

* Customer Service

* Best Practices

* Collaboration among agencies

* Working with the Hispanic community

* Diversity Training

* Workplace Violence

* Stress Relief and/or Humor Workshops

Cracker Barrels

A "Cracker Barrel" session is a series of 30-minute mini-training/roundtable discussions. At the Institute, people will gather for continental breakfast and choose two topics out of more than twenty. We are looking for people to lead the same Cracker Barrel session two times on Thursday monring (11/14). Since the time is short, presentations should concentrate on one idea or model. Group sizes will be small. This is a great opportunity to share new ideas and positive aspects of your program or practice with others in your field.

Please look over the attached Institute Presentation Proposal form, fill out and mail, email or fax to Denelle Manley by June 14, 2002. The Committee will look over these proposals and contact you regarding the status of your submission by August 9, 2002.
