Issue Summary:

There is a need to organize and implement appropriate training and mentoring activities for directors and potential directors.

The certification and training program for all directors will be implemented based on the modules reviewed at the regional meetings.

Position or Policy Recommendation for Board Action:

It is recommended that the association’s team representatives be given specific tasks related to supporting new directors.

General Information for Dissemination:

Orientation for new directors is being planned for June 11 and 12 in Raleigh.  A reception for the new directors is planned for the evening of the 11^th

Special discussion sessions are being planned for regional meetings to allow informal support for new directors.

Modules of training for all directors are being developed for the areas of personnel, budget, legal issues, media and working with boards.  The committee will be exploring possible ways to add a leadership module.
