Scope Of Work
Committee Name: Professional Capacity
Role of Committee:
To build the professional capacity of county directors, and state and local county department of social services staff. To implement goals and strategies from the NCACDSS Strategic Plan as appropriate to the Committee's scope of work or as assigned by the President.
Short Term Goals or Objectives
To identify training needs of Directors and their leadership team in county departments of social services;
To plan, integrate and coordinate training among all service delivery areas and providers;
To develop a cooperative relationship with other players (Schools of Social Work, NC Division of Social Services, NASW and others) who can provide training;
To ensure that training provided by the Division of Social Services and others is consistent in content and practice;
To submit a written report of the committee's work at the annual meeting of NCACDSS.
Long Range Goals or Objectives
To monitor and evaluate progress toward meeting leadership needs;
Pursue alternative funding resources for DSS professional development.
Committee Work on Strategic Plan Priorities
To develop strategies to increase Director participation in monthly Association activities and monitor effectiveness of these strategies with reports to the Executive Board;
To develop a County Director/Manager Certification Program to assure that Directors successfully complete this program within three years of their appointment beginning in Fiscal Year 2005;
To assure the development of a mentoring program for all new Directors.
