Issue Summary:

1.  Office of State Personnel Pay Plan Comparisions/Reporting

A.     There are four reporting fields available and three have been determined:

1.  Statewide   2.  Population   3.  Regionally

B.     It has been suggested that three classes be reported on the Pay Plan Comparisons

 

2.  Proposed minimum qualifications for Social Worker Trainee

     The Office of State Personnel is proposing a change in the minimum education and

     experience requirements.  The current requirement reads as follows:  “Graduation from a

     four-year college of university.”  This proposal is intended to help local human service

     agencies recruit BSW candidates from accredited schools of Social Work.  The student

     may complete coursework and then assume a trainee position at a local agency while

     completing the fieldwork (internship) required for graduation.  Completion of the

     “practical experience” and receipt of the BSW degree will complete the requirements for

     Social Worker Trainee.

 

 

 

 

 

Position or Policy Recommendation for Board Action:

1.  Executive board needs to determine 4th reporting field.   Committee recommends budget

     size be considered as 4th field.

2.  Executive Board needs to decide on the three classes to be reported.  Committee

     recommends the following be reported:  Social Worker II, Social Worker III and

     Income Maintenance Caseworker II.

3.  Personnel Committee recommends that the proposed requirements for the Social Worker

     Trainee requirements read as follows: “Graduation from a four-year degree college or

     university or completion of required casework for a bachelor’s degree in Social Work

     from an accredited college or university.  Completion of one semester practical

     experience requirement and certification of Social Work degree will complete the trainee
