Economics Services Committee
2002-2003 Annual Report
The Economics Services Committee has had a very active year, meeting monthly in
the Wake County Human Services Building . George Perry, Pitt County and Connie Melville,
Onslow County are NCSSA co-chairs
This committee is a joint committee with the Directors Association and NCSSA. The committee is mostly comprised of NCSSA members. There are three standing sub-committees
with co-chairs to review program policy from Medicaid, Food Stamps and Work First. State
Agency staff from DMA and DSS present material to the committees and get input from the
county perspective. An Energy sub-committee meets as needed.
The State Agency Staff members meet with the committee as a whole before sub-committee
meetings and brief the entire committee on pertinent issues which are being considered.
The Committee has reviewed a tremendous amount of policy this year, and information regarding the issues have been covered in the minutes of the committee which have been shared on the List Serve, so we will not bore you with these again.
This committee has dedicated members who spend a lot of time and effort reviewing
proposed policy material. State Staff from all areas are receptive to suggestions from the
committee members, and whenever possible try to develop policy that cover the regulations,
but also consider the recipients of the service and the most efficient means of service delivery.
