Child Support Committee

 Annual Report

2003-2004

  The Child Support Committee met six (6) times during the 2003-2004 year. Directors' attendance was sporadic, with local child support staff and state child support staff well represented. Staff from the Section kept and circulated minutes for most of the meetings. Meeting “summaries” were forwarded to the second Vice-President for inclusion, as appropriate, in the summary report to the membership.

  Of all issues discussed by the Committee during the year, the following represent the most noteworthy:

•  Office and Data Security – Compliance with Federal requirements;

•  Access to IRS data by non-IV D staff in DSS;

•  Reporting and accounting for payments child support in Foster Care cases;

•  Seat Management and updating of Child Support automation;

•  Transfer of Clerk of Court cases by Judicial Order in Western North Carolina ;

•  Financial Institution Data Match - Progress;

•  Customer Service Surveying by State Child Support Office;

•  Changes in calculating performance measures resulting from use of Data Warehouse;

•  Report on Child Support Performance to General Assembly;

•  Child Support Five Year Plan: “A Journey to Excellence”;

  A number of the issues above remain as active items to follow during Fiscal Year 2004-2005 by the committee.
