•    Approved revisions to Chapter VIII (Guardianship) of the Family Services Manual to:

    1) to require the appointed guardian ad litem to visit the respondent ASAP to determine their wishes regarding the                          incompetency proceeding;

    2) authorize clerks of court to order limited guardianships;

    3) repealed Chapter 35, Article 7 authorizing involuntary sterilization; and;

    4) added section for the guardian of a person to use when consenting to sterilization of wards for medical necessity.

 

•  Karen Gottovi updated committee on plans for merging Division of Aging with Adult Services Section.   Plans are to move Adult Services to Dix Campus when quarters are ready.

•  John Tanner is retiring and will be the new DSS Director in Chatham County (Nov. 1).
