Issue Summary:

Budget stalemate, no movement from House or Senate

Rumored that budget will be completed by July 4, 2003

Domestic Violence Bill now has strong opposition from NRA

Legislation permitting counties to appeal district court ordering payment of services passed

Both House and Senate.

Position or Policy Recommendation for Board Action:

Recommend that Board adopt position that counties share in any federal Medicaid relief.

County relief should be in same proportion as county cost of Medicaid.

Recommend that Board endorse and support rally for Save F.A.C.E. (Families Access to Care Everyday) day on June 24 th . Use collective power of our partners to support funding levels included in Senate Budget.

General Information for Dissemination:

State DSS is working with Rep. Debbie Clary (r. Cleveland) on an amendment to H.B. 402 (technical changes in State policy) to clarify role of CPS in entering a home during an investigation. Training for CPS staff will also be clarified in this amendment.
