Issue Summary:

1. Mental Health Reform – Met with representatives of Associations representing area programs to discuss concerns related to local planning process, target population and guardianship.
2. Legislative agenda – Assigned responsibility to committee members for development of one page fact sheets on each Association agenda item.

Position or Policy Recommendation for Board Action:

1. Ask Pheon Beal to assure that County DSS Directors are involved at the DHHS level work group on Mental Health reform – particularly as relates to target populations and guardianship.
2. TANF Position Paper – Recommend adoption by Association and distribution to our congressional delegation.
3. Request involvement of the following committees in developing position statements on Child Care funding – Child Care Committee, TANF Reauthorization – Employment Committee, Foster Care Rate Increase – Children’s Services Committee and Case Management – Adult Services Committee.

General Information for Dissemination:

Association will take the lead in bringing together representatives of the Covenant, Foster Parent’s Association and line staff in foster care to develop a recommendation of the amount of foster care and adoption subsidy increase.
